The parking facility was built to help fulfill the city’s promise of revitalizing the downtown area, he said.

According to a fact sheet provided by Brownsville Metro, “investment in transportation infrastructure, particularly public transportation, drives growth” and leads to development and an increase in property values.

“It connects restaurants to diners, landlords to renters, families to local stores and employers to employees,” the fact sheet said.
